What I really love is versatile items, that I can style in many different ways like this dress I received from Tashkaya.

My style is a mixture of different looks that I like to call Rock Boho Trendista. I dress according to my mood but I like to incorporate some of these styles into my everyday outfits, so I decided to show you how to style an item in 4 different ways.

1. Simple and Classic

2 tone mini

I kept the dress simple which is perfect for summer when it’s really hot. I added wedges, simple jewelry and a studded neck cuff to finish off the look.

2. Trendy

2 tone mini

I layered the polka dot top underneath the dress, added the shoulder leather jacket and mixed it with lace up heels and aviators. This look is perfect for chilly summer evenings when you can layer but still show a bit of skin.

3. Boho Chic

2 tone mini

Layering is really simple to do and the perfect way to keep warm in winter. I added a blue frilly top underneath the dress and a faux fur coat and over the knee boots. There is no reason not to look chic and sexy in winter!

4. Rock Chic

mini dress

I am a huge fan of leather jackets, I live in them in winter so for this look I buttoned up the jacket so the dress became a skirt, added a huge scarf, patterned tights and heels. This look is perfect for winter when you still want to look chic but stay warm.

Inspirational Woman Blog – By Sue Faith Levy http://tashkaya.com/blog/inspirational-woman-blog-by-sue-faith-levy http://tashkaya.com/blog/inspirational-woman-blog-by-sue-faith-levy#comments Wed, 01 Feb 2012 15:21:14 +0000 admin http://tashkaya.com/?p=693 Thank you to Sue Faith Levy for inviting me to be apart of her Inspirational Womans blog 2012…..The year of inspiration.

I have copied the post below but you can check out the original post here.

Name
Natasha Teplitsky

What is your Profession and what is it that you do?

Designer and owner of clothing brand called Tashkaya.

Which obstacles did you overcome on your journey, in order to find your true calling?

I’ve always had a passion for design which is why I worked for my mom at her factory – Teplov ballet shoes and studied at Haute Couture School of Fashion in Cape town. Before starting my label I had to discover myself through working odd jobs on yachts in the South of France. Having the opportunity to visit one of the fashion capitals ‘Paris’, I couldn’t help but be inspired by the people, the old beautiful buildings, the music played on the streets and all the top fashion houses. I knew then that I had to start Tashkaya.

What advice would you give to someone who pursues a similar profession as yourself?

You can never go wrong when you follow your heart; Fashion is a challenging industry but with hard work comes great rewards. Be positive and don’t let people get you down.

Where do you draw motivation from and what inspires you?

I draw inspiration from hard working successful women like my mom and all the small beauties that surrounds us every day that sometimes go unnoticed.

What is your favourite motivational quote?

Love what you do, do what you love..

For more information about Natasha’s label “Tashkaya”, visit her website at

To the beautiful and talented Natasha, I can absolutely appreciate your creativity and your clothing designs. You are indeed a talented and inspirational woman. Thank You for your contribution to the Inspirational Woman of 2012 Blog Series. I’m sure an aspiring designer will find your words as motivating as I have.

3 Tips for Holiday Shopping on a Budget http://tashkaya.com/blog/3-tips-for-holiday-shopping-on-a-budget http://tashkaya.com/blog/3-tips-for-holiday-shopping-on-a-budget#comments Thu, 08 Dec 2011 18:06:50 +0000 admin http://tashkaya.com/?p=685 This year has been long and tough financially for many people. Now that the biggest shopping season of the year – Christmas shopping – is upon us, finding ways to save on gifts is even more important. Fortunately, with a little foresight and a bit of effort, you can save tens if not hundreds of dollars with savvy shopping tips this holiday season.

Discounts, Discounts, Discounts

Take advantage of every price discount you can find for items you want. Reducing the price you pay with coupon codes or coupon slips is a very smart thing to do. From food to decorations to gifts and more, the money you don’t spend is money available for something else!

Be sure to check several sites for the best discount code or coupon for your target item. Some discounts are noted for specific items, while others are for any purchase at a particular storefront.

Discover if you can combine sale price discounts or not: Some merchants allow combinations up to a pre-set percentage or discount total. Some allow an either/or situation only where you chose which discount you’d prefer.

Compare Prices

You might think that the sweater you’ve been wanting is finally being offered at the lowest price around, but it might not be discounted as far in Store A as it is in Store B. Even using multiple tabs or browsers, sorting through price comparison on comparable items can still be confusing and very time-consuming.

Try price-matching websites for larger or major end items. They often give several prices for the same or similar items from different vendors, saving you time, effort and sanity.

If your preferred store is not listed among those displayed vendors, at least you will have that information ammunition for a price-match request: If you can get a lower price by a price-match arrangement by a local store, do so! The store manager might not agree, but she might: You’ll never know unless you ask!

Find out, however, if local stores have the authority to suspend store chain policy, though. What you might read on the corporate website may not agree with your local store’s policy. Discover each policy and consider negotiating for the better policy arrangement on your purchase.

Shipping v Local Pick-Up

Many merchants make the purchaser – you – pay to have the item delivered to your doorstep. Some, however, present the option to have the item shipped to you via your local outlet for free.

The cost of shipping should be added to your total purchase price, but so should the cost of fuel, mileage, car usage and your time to retrieve the item from the local store.

If you can afford the time more than you can a high shipping cost, opt for the less expensive delivery mode every time. You can combine other errands on your retrieval trip to save time and money.

Tashkaya Summer 2011/12 – My Favourite Pieces! http://tashkaya.com/blog/tashkaya-summer-201112-my-favourite-pieces http://tashkaya.com/blog/tashkaya-summer-201112-my-favourite-pieces#comments Fri, 30 Sep 2011 14:29:28 +0000 admin http://tashkaya.com/?p=636 I am very excited to share some of my summer 2011/12 collection with you all. I had so much fun working on this collection, as it’s one of my favorites thus far. It’s feminine, fun, classical and easy to wear.

I’ve only posted a few of my favourite pieces that I would like to share with you. The rest will be uploaded to our Facebook page soon

I adore the shift dress as it’s easy to wear, classical and it can also be playful in certain prints as per the pic below.

Shift dress

The Crop top is a must-have! you can dress it up or down. A cool way to wear it is with linen shorts or leggings paired with a vest mini.

Crop top

I’ve always loved the gypsy/bohemian look and because the 70’s era is such a big fashion influence this season, I couldn’t help but add my all time favourite; Peasant Blouse.

Peasant blouse

The Ruffle Dress is so feminine and pretty. I love to wear it in the day with flat leather sandals or my Teplov ballet pumps. For an evening out it looks great paired with Espadrille wedges or with black heals and a black ribbon tied under the bust.

Lastly, I love the Day dress as it’s easy to wear. You can wear it to the beach and into the evening with any accessories.

Stripes are back in fashion for summer 2011 http://tashkaya.com/blog/stripes-are-back-in-fashion-for-summer-2011 http://tashkaya.com/blog/stripes-are-back-in-fashion-for-summer-2011#comments Wed, 31 Aug 2011 09:33:31 +0000 admin http://tashkaya.com/?p=592 Stripes are bigger, bolder and brighter and way more daring this season, no longer just seen on your average t-shirt and basics, they are being used in every wearable item this season, from dresses, to scarfs to accessories. My favourite items in stripes are crop tops, tank tops, flowing dresses and even maxi skirts.  I love to wear nautical stripes in summer as it always looks smart and fresh and it goes with almost anything.

Stripes can be unflattering if worn incorrectly, darker stripes are more slimming than lighter stripes. Horizontal stripes are more for women with boyish body types as they create the illusion of curves, where as vertical stripes are better for curvy women as they have an elongating effect. If you are curvy and enjoy wearing horizontal stripes, stay away from clothes that cling around your “trouble” area, such as your bust and mid section. It will make you look more endowed than you are, wear loose fitting clothes and opt for darker stripes.

I have included a few pictures of some lovely stripe ideas to get you ready and inspired for summer 2011!

I love this bright and striped collection below by Marc Jacobs for his Spring 2011 collection. It gives one the excitement for summer to arrive, with clear blue skies, white sandy beaches and the smell of the crisp blue ocean. I especially love the dress on the left. It’s fun, happy and sophisticated.

Bright stripes for summer 2011

Stripes are also a big trend in shoes for summer 2011. Take a look at these awesome Prada heels. It would look great paired with skinny denims rolled up, black trim Prada sunglasses and a sheer silk top.

The stripe fashion for summer 2011 is not just nautical but also bright, bold and asymmetrical.

Stripes 2011

My all time favorite is the classical Breton stripe top, which originated in the French province of Brittany. It was worn by the French Navy as their uniform. Coco Chanel was inspired by the Breton stripe that they wore and thus introduced it to the fashion industry. It’s been in fashion ever since!

Enjoy wearing stripes this summer, be bold and daring – turn some heads!

Fashion Trends Summer 2011/2012 http://tashkaya.com/blog/fashion-trends-summer-2011-2012 http://tashkaya.com/blog/fashion-trends-summer-2011-2012#comments Wed, 06 Jul 2011 12:01:28 +0000 admin http://tashkaya.com/?p=547 I am just in love with the Fashion trends for this summer 2011/2012. It’s so feminine and pretty with mixtures of lace, sheer fabrics, soft cottons, florals, linens, frills and pleats. I have had so much fun working on my collection for summer 2011/2012. It’s also been a bit overwhelming as there are so many various types of styles that are in for summer 2011/2012. I will be sharing some of the fashion trends with you from some of my summer 2011/2012 collection and also from what I picked up whilst working on my collection.

FRILLS

I am not one for big frills but I love a bit of frill detailing on soft flowing dresses and sheer blouses. Below is a picture of my frill dress for summer 2011/2012.

Frill dress – I would pair if with a thin tan leather belt, flat sandals, a bag to match and some accessories to give you a feminine vintage look.

Waterfrill dress

The ruffle dress – This is also from my latest summer collection 2011/2012. It’s great for an evening out on the town, a cocktail party or a wedding. The classical pearl earrings work well with this dress as well as a simple bracelet and high heel shoes.

Ruffle dress

Frill front playsuit – florals are huge for summer 2011/2012 so why not invest in a cute floral frill jumpsuit. You can wear it in so many ways.

PALAZZO PANTS

I just love the fact that these are in for SUMMER 2011/12, they are so comfy and fit most body types – which is especially great when you are in between winter and summer and still trying to shed those extra kilo’s! These pants hide what you want hidden but also look great once you are back to where you wanna be. Palazzo pants are usually fitted around the waistline with long wide legs. I think they would look great in most colours and fabrics.

Sheer fabric palazzo pants – I love soft delicate fabrics for palazzo pants as they always look elegant and very attractive. I love how both these outfit are put together. I think wedges look amazing with these style pants.

sheer fabric palazzo pants

Palazzo pants in a knit fabric such as viscose is also really lovely as they are comfy, stylish and versatile. you can dress it up for the evening with heels and a sexy top or with flats and a vest for a more casual look. It’s a perfect outfit for sundowners on a fresh summer evening on the beach!

Palazzo pants in a knit

Palazzo pants are also very popular in prints such as florals, polka dots, bold prints, etc… Here are a few examples below.

PLAYSUITS AND JUMPSUITS

Yet another fashion trend I am so happy to see re-accuring for Summer 2011/12 as they are so comfy and pretty. Playsuits and jumpsuits are easy to wear especially when you don’t feel like thinking to hard about what to wear. Pair it with pumps, wedges, heels or sandals and you’re good to go!

Floral jumpsuit with palazzo pants. Here is a great outfit below for a night out paired with black heels and a thick belt to define your waistline.

I love this floral playsuit below. This inspired my playsuit that I including in my summer 2011/2010 collection. You can broche it up for a more conservative look or leave it open and even wear a lace cami underneath.

MAXI SKIRT AND MAXI DRESSES

I’m please to let you all know that maxi skirts and maxi dresses are in again for summer 2011/2012. They are seen in florals, sheers, knits and woven fabrics inspired by the 70’s look.

Diane Kruger looking stylish in this sheer flowing maxi skirt at the Coachella festival. I was completely inspired by this outfit! Love it!

Another great example of how stylish the maxi skirt is. Miranda Kerr looking effortlessly chic and gorgeous in this floral maxi skirt.
